Mental Health Charter
Experiencing a mental health challenge is hard enough. Fear of judgement, shame and isolation just makes it that much harder. That's why we work to end mental health stigma and discrimination.
Mental Health Charter (MHC)'s purpose is to provide a flexible and consistent charter to enable all businesses in the UK to access mental health support, provide awareness and training and put in place a structure and systems to support people in the workplace.
The Mental Health Charter is a social movement to change the way people think and act about mental health challenges. The charter started in 2020 and is growing year on year! We support leaders in work and in communities to deliver change and help people with lived experiences of mental health challenges to stamp out stigma through their own charter activities. But there is still more to be done to change attitudes and behaviour.
We support workplaces by:
- Encouraging them to make a public commitment by signing the “Workplace Mental Health Charter Commitment”
- Working with them to develop robust action plans to help them turn their commitment into real change
- Empowering employee champions, with lived experience of mental health problems, to stamp out stigma and encourage conversation educating as many as possible where and when to seek help.
- Providing the tools to deliver lasting change through ongoing support, training and networking.
This half-day or full-day course from Suicide First Aid will empower you to:
- Knowledge to spot the signs of someone who may be thinking about suicide
- Confidence to intervene and help create a suicide-safety plan
- Skills to offer support to someone in distress or who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts
- This course also includes a City and Guilds assured digital badge
