Deaf Awareness Week 2024 will take place from the 1st to the 7th of May. The UK Council on Deafness created Deaf Awareness Week to increase the visibility of challenges the deaf community face and educate others on how they can support them.\

Deaf Awareness Week is an annual event in the UK that aims to:

• Raise awareness of hearing loss and its impact on people's lives
• Promote a better understanding of deafness, D/deaf culture, and the experiences of D/deaf people
• Educate others on how they can support the deaf community
• Celebrate the contributions of the Deaf community
• Promote the rights of Deaf people worldwide
• Raise awareness of the isolation that deaf people can occasionally experience
• Promote the importance of social inclusion around the deaf community
