Includability is delighted to be welcomed into the Living Wage Foundation movement of thousands of organisations, businesses and people, across the UK, who believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.
What is the Real Living Wage?
In 2016, the UK Government introduced a rise in the minimum wage for over 25’s and called this new statutory minimum: The National Living Wage.
In 2021, the rate sits at £8.91 per hour with the age of qualification reduced to 23. The real living wage recognises that there is still a gap between the amount all employers have to pay by law, and the real Living Wage is calculated to meet the cost of living. That is why thousands of UK employers have voluntarily committed to going further.
What was the real living wage in 2022?
The real Living Wage rate is currently £9.50 per hour and £10.85 per hour for those working in London. The rate is independently calculated each year based on living costs and accredited employers choose to go further by paying all their staff, including subcontracted staff.
At Includability, we have worked hard to ensure all of our staff receive the real Living Wage so they can bring their whole selves to work. Financial pressures can cause as much anxiety as any other and by valuing our employees’ financial wellbeing, we can provide an extra layer of security for our talented team.
How are fair wages connected to the UN SDGs?
We also firmly support the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and we have ensured our actions toward Goal 1: No Poverty is safeguarded within our business plan. We achieve this by being an accredited living wage employer, providing financial wellbeing tips on our job board to benefit job seekers using our platform, and actively encouraging all members of our Includability Community to also off the real Living Wage to all staff.
David Holby-Wolinski, Director of Includability, said: “We’re so delighted to become an Accredited Living Wage Employer and in doing so we join an amazing community of UK businesses that believe in the long-term investment in their team. We feel an overwhelming responsibility at Includability to take care of our family and ensure they can flourish in every way – part of that will always involve supporting their financial wellbeing and to help take away those worries that can impact all areas of our lives. We are committed to encouraging all organisations within our Includability Community and beyond to do the same.”
Are You Ready for Living Wage Week?
Living Wage Week is a UK wide celebration that we hold in the first week of November each year. During the week the new Living Wage rates for the coming year are announced by public figures and accredited Living Wage Employers come together to share their commitment to responsible pay.
