RED January 2025 Launched on World Kindness Day
As we step into 2025, there’s no better way to embrace the new year than with RED January. RED January’s 2025 campaign launched on World Kindness Day to reach as many people as possible before the New Year.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this nationwide initiative encourages us to ‘Rise Every Day’, using movement to boost our mood, build healthy habits, and connect with a supportive community. Whether it’s a daily walk, dance, or run, RED January empowers you to set achievable goals and make a positive impact.
A New Perspective on January Resolutions
January is often a time of fresh starts, but the challenges of darker, shorter days can make sticking to resolutions a struggle. RED January 2025 aims to flip the script on resolutions by focusing on achievable, meaningful movement goals tailored to your lifestyle. Forget unrealistic expectations—RED encourages consistency and realism, helping participants create habits that last beyond January.
About RED January
Founded by Hannah Beecham MBE in 2014, RED January is a nationwide initiative designed to support mental health and wellbeing through movement.
The story behind RED January was personal to our lovely Ambassador, Hannah. It started with her mother who was suffering from depression and signing her up to a walking marathon. Getting her mum moving and sharing the experience of movement with others gave her a sense of purpose and she felt more like herself again, which inspired Hannah to do the same for others who are going through a similar experience.
The letters in RED stand for Rise Every Day, a mantra encouraging participants to set achievable daily activity goals throughout January. Whether you’re walking, stretching, running, or dancing, RED January unites people across the UK to embrace the mood-boosting benefits of physical activity, foster community, and inspire positive change.
How RED January is Making a Difference
RED January’s impact extends far beyond its participants. By encouraging movement as a tool for mental health, the initiative has catalysed transformative change in communities across the UK. With over £3.2 million raised to date, the funds have been used to support grassroots projects tailored to meet the unique needs of local communities.
These projects not only promote physical and mental well-being but also create lasting societal benefits, such as reducing isolation and increasing access to support networks. By continuing to expand its reach and partner with impactful initiatives, RED January is empowering individuals to Rise Every Day while making meaningful contributions to mental health advocacy nationwide.
The Power of Movement and Community
RED January isn’t just about physical activity; it’s a celebration of community and mutual support. By joining, you become part of a nationwide movement where individuals empower one another to overcome challenges, beat the winter blues, and embrace the mental health benefits of daily activity. Whether it’s ten push-ups, a brisk walk, or marathon training, every effort counts, and every movement builds towards a healthier you.
How to Get Involved in RED January 2025
Participating in RED January is simple and free. Set your personal movement goal—whether small or ambitious—and rise every day to achieve it. Share your journey online, inspire others, and become part of the collective energy driving positive change.
