Combining Charity Impact with Client Engagement
In an inspiring move, DRUM Studios, an accessibility-focussed digital media and marketing firm, and Includability Committed Employer, is extending the intersection of giving and corporate social responsibility.
Throughout 2024, DRUM is making charity impact an integral part of their client contracts, ensuring that every project not only delivers digital excellence but also contributes positively to society.
A Bold Step for Charitable Giving
As the world grapples with a cost-of-living crisis, the charitable sector is facing unprecedented challenges. DRUM Studios has recognised the scale of the challenge and has committed to donate 10% of all project costs to charities in need.
14% of those regularly donating to charity in the UK are cutting back on their donations as inflation hits households. Charities are also facing increasing costs and DRUM is hoping to fill some of that widening gap.
This initiative transforms each client engagement into an opportunity for giving, allowing businesses to play a crucial role in supporting those in need. Whether it's a £2,000 project or a £100,000 endeavour, every client’s investment with DRUM will have a tangible, positive impact on the community.
Selecting Charities That Matter
DRUM’s charity selection process is thoughtful and responsive.
Each quarter, they identify five key charities that are underfunded and in urgent need of support. Clients are then given the opportunity to choose which of these charities their project will benefit. This quarter's selection includes five brilliant UK-based causes:
Scope. Out in the cold
More than 900,000 households with a disabled person in England are living in fuel poverty with over half (55%) of disabled adults worried about paying their energy bills and over a third saying that their impairment or condition has a significant effect on their energy costs.
The Ocean Cleanup
The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organisation developing and scaling technologies to rid the oceans of plastic. Their aim is to remove 90 % of floating ocean plastic.
Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care
Based in Farnham, Phyllis Tuckwell is the only Hospice Care service for adult patients, and their families, living with cancer or another terminal illness (such as heart, lung or neurological disease).
The Trussell Trust. Stop UK hunger
An anti-poverty charity and community of food banks. Between April 2022 and March 2023, food banks in their network provided almost 3 million food supplies to people in crisis, a 37% increase on the previous year.
War Child
War Child work to protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children living through conflict and go to the hardest to reach places to support those who are hardest hit.

Digital Accessibility: More Than Compliance
DRUM's dedication to digital accessibility goes beyond compliance, understanding that inclusive design benefits everyone, not just those with disabilities. With a significant portion of the population either living with a disability or likely to acquire one, DRUM ensures that digital experiences are accessible and enriching for all users. Which is not only ethically sound but also enhances customer engagement and business growth.
Championing Digital Sustainability
DRUM advocate for reducing the digital carbon footprint, paralleling the efforts many make in their personal lives to be more environmentally conscious. A faster, more efficient website isn't just good for the environment; it's also beneficial for SEO and user experience.
DRUM Studios is not just about creating sustainable digital media; it’s about instilling a culture of responsibility. By integrating charitable giving into their business model, DRUM sets a precedent in the industry, showing that every business, regardless of size or sector, can make a substantial difference in the world.
Their approach is a call to action for businesses everywhere to rethink their impact on society during a turbulent time for the giving industries as individuals have less cash to contribute to great causes.
