Our outstanding Official Partner Planet Mark has launched a Carbon Policy Tracker, to give industry-specific updates on sustainable policy developments.
The project is the result of months of work from Andrew Griffiths, Director of Policy & Partnerships, and the wider Planet Mark team so members can plan and prioritise their sustainability policies for their immediate, medium and long-term carbon strategies.
The policy tracker breaks down your company by size, industry and location supplying your business with specified information as to what your business should be reporting by law, industry specific reporting, and voluntary information which could help accelerate your long-term strategy.
What areas does Planet Mark’s Carbon Policy Tracker focus on?
Mandatory Reporting Requirements - These requirements are enforced in legislation and failure to comply may lead to fines, loss of tenders and contracts, reputational damage, and open your organisation to lawsuits.
Industry-Specific Policy - Requirements that apply to particular sectors and markets and often drive competitor advantage.
Voluntary Reporting Frameworks - Frameworks that, whilst currently optional, are useful tools and are often used by policy makers as the basis for future regulation.
Can the Carbon Policy Tracker be accessed easily?
Andrew Griffiths expressed his excitement for the new project and how the tracker has made accessing helpful sustainability information easy for businesses. He said:
“This has been a culmination of a huge amount of work across the team to compile a list of carbon-relevant regulations, standards and policies and then map them to which types of business they apply to.
“All you need to do is answer a few basic questions about the size of your business, industry, location etc. and you get a tailored report breaking down the mandatory regulation, industry-specific guidelines and voluntary standards that are worth being on your radar.”
